Crown cracks letting water into the flue
Why it happens here
North Bridgewater sees 30 to 40 freeze-thaw cycles each winter. Water gets into hairline cracks in the concrete crown, freezes, expands, and widens them. After three or four winters, a hairline crack becomes a real leak. This is the single most common chimney problem in 08807 and 08876.
Our approach
We inspect the crown on every job, even if you called about something else. If it is cracked, we remove the old crown, pour a new one with a proper overhang and drip edge, and seal it. A new crown lasts 20 to 30 years. Most crown jobs finish in one day.
